Winter Schengen 2010

"This year we want to commemorate the 2nd anniversary of the Czech Republic's entry into the Schengen Area in an untraditional way by swimming in the river Dyje to show that, nowadays, it is possible to go from the Czech Republic to elsewhere in Europe without any problem. We have prepared a surprise this year, the Nautilus Sports Diving Club and the Military History Club in Breclav have prepared a little demonstration of what it may have looked like when someone wanted to escape from Czechoslovakia to freedom in Austria." - Mgr. Michal Mucha, co-organiser.

"I'm here at this event for the second time, it's wonderful, it's a very noble thought, and hats off, or rather woolly hats off to those people who actually take part, and it's very important to us that in this way the friendship between our countries becomes deeper and longer-lasting." - Johann Kreuzer, Deputy Mayor of Bernhardsthal, Austria.
