Night of Churches
The "Night of Churches" project made its first appearance five years ago in Vienna. Interest in the project was surprisingly high and therefore a tradition emerged in which, for several years, Night of Churches has regularly taken place in many foreign cities, for example in Vienna, Cologne, Hamburg, Lintz, Salzburg and many other places in Europe. In the Czech Republic this project was first introduced in 2009 in the dioceses of Brno and Pilsen. This year, on 28th May 2010, the doors were opened to several hundred churches throughout the Czech Republic, with the Roman Catholic Parish Church of the Immaculate Conception of Virgin Mary in Ostrava - Radvanice being no exception.
The aim of Night of Churches is primarily to invite all people of good will to a communal gathering and to discover the beauty of Christian artistic and architectural treasures, and thus stimulate interest in the social and cultural value of churches, and also to introduce those who inhabit churches today and want to share their belief, their lives and their personal gifts and skills. More on this year's Night of Churches in a report from the cine4net production.
